SAVX

Canada’s AI-powered grocery savings app. Reads your recipes, finds every deal across 50+ stores, and shows you the receipts — real flyers, real coupons, ready to scan at checkout.

Next project — in the lab

ROCA ships one thing at a time and ships it properly. The next one lands here.

Deals tagged with flyer or coupon proof

The problem

The average Canadian household spends $16,288 a year on groceries, and 2026 added another 2.9% on top.

The savings are already out there — weekly flyers, loadable coupons, price-match policies. The catch is that claiming them is unpaid labour. Somebody has to read every flyer, clip every coupon, remember which store had the chicken thighs, and work out whether the drive across town costs more in gas than it saves at the till. Most people don’t have that hour. Paul did it by hand for years, then built the tool he wished existed.

How it works

1

Share or build

It’s your cart, your rules

  • Paste a TikTok, Instagram or YouTube recipe link
  • Every ingredient extracted automatically, in about four seconds
  • Add, edit or remove anything — voice input, barcode scan, or plain typing
2

We find the deals

Stackable, and always sourced

  • The list is cross-referenced against 50+ Canadian flyers and coupon databases in real time
  • Walmart, Loblaws, No Frills, Metro, FreshCo, Food Basics and 45 more
  • Every match tagged with its source — flyer deal, loadable coupon, or both
3

Tap. See. Save.

Proof is one tap away

  • Tap a badge to see the cropped flyer tile — product, price, valid dates
  • Or a scannable coupon barcode, ready for the cashier
  • Tap again to jump to the item’s page in the original flyer

The core idea

Proof on tap.

Most savings apps ask you to trust a number. SAVX shows its work. Every item on the list carries the artifact the saving came from, and any of them can be opened at the shelf or at the register. No arguing with a cashier, no wondering whether a price was real last Tuesday. That one decision — “tap any deal, see the proof” — is what turns a list of claims into something you can actually take to a checkout counter, and it’s the constraint the rest of the product is designed around.

The same logic drives the trip planner. Rather than sending people chasing sales across town, SAVX routes only through the stores that actually earn the detour, and prices in the gas to get there. As the app puts it: only drive where it pays.

Under the hood

Designed, built and shipped solo.

Three-tier AI pipeline

Ingests and normalizes live flyer data across 50+ Canadian retailers, each with its own format and refresh cadence.

Recipe extraction

Turns short-form video into a structured ingredient list — quantities, units and all — in roughly four seconds.

Deal matching & price-match flagging

Reconciles messy retailer product names against a user’s list, then flags where a competitor’s price can be matched in-store.

Multi-store routing

Google Maps routing across drive, transit and walk, weighted by gas cost and live traffic.

90-day price history

Backs the watchlist alerts and the weekly savings report, so a “sale” can be checked against what the item actually costs.

Household sharing

One list, up to four people, so whoever is closest to the store can pick up the run.

Business model

Freemium, three tiers. Founding members keep 15% off for good.

Founder-owned & operated

Paul is the founder and sole owner of ROCA Technologies Inc., a software product studio in Kitchener, Ontario. He builds consumer products end to end — research, design, engineering and ship — and his first is SAVX, an app that gets Canadians the grocery savings they’re already entitled to without the hour of flyer-scanning it usually costs.

“This app is for the people. It’s built to help with survival through a tough time. As someone who’s lived paycheck to paycheck, I know how hard it can be. As someone who’s manually scanned flyers, clipped coupons, and planned the most efficient grocery route — I built the tool I wished existed. This is my masterpiece. I hope it saves you something real.”
